Rising right at the entrance to the Galata Bridge, this monumental building was designed in 1920 by the Italian architect Giulio Mongeri in a Neo-Byzantine and early Italian eclectic style. With its two-tone stonework, pointed windows and arched entrance, it was the heart of early 20th-century port trade and shipping companies.
