Who Are We?

Istanbul, through our eyes.

We never loved Istanbul from a distance.

We grew up on its streets. We ran for its ferries, cursed its traffic, got lost in its back alleys. We went to bad places we thought were good, and found wonderful tables on streets we expected nothing from.

Some days we loved Istanbul deeply.
Some days we wanted to run away from it.
But one way or another, we always found ourselves back here.

Then we asked a simple question:

If a friend came to Istanbul for the first time, where would we take them?

Which building would we want them to stop in front of and look up at? Which table would we sit them at? Where would we watch the sunset? Which tourist queue would we skip, and which back street would we make a point of turning into?

Geziro is, more or less, the answer to those questions.

We're not trying to list everything in the city. Istanbul has more than enough options already.

We wanted less.

We gathered it on one map.

Because Istanbul finds you sometimes in a palace hall, sometimes on the stairs of a hundred-year-old apartment building, sometimes stepping off a ferry, and sometimes at a table you never planned, at the end of the night.

We didn't want to explain Istanbul to you.
We wanted you to see it a little the way we do.

Thank you to the streets of Istanbul, where we learned love, fighting, getting lost, making it on time, standing up and staying alive.
