Rising on the corner of Şişhane Square, this stone palace is one of the most magnificent Art Nouveau examples in the city, its façade lined with sculpted female busts. Built in 1905 for the Beirut merchant Selim Frej, it witnessed a family drama stretching from his daughter Madam Anjel's debutante balls to her financial ruin in old age.
