Müjgan is a breakfast café in Yeldeğirmeni, the neighbourhood just behind Kadıköy ferry pier, and for some years it has been a morning stop for locals. Yeldeğirmeni is known for its street murals, old apartment blocks and small cafés, and Müjgan fits right in.

What to order

The signature is the Müjgan tray (Müjgan tepsi): a breakfast served on a single tray per person. It is less sprawling than a full spread breakfast but still filling. If you want a bigger table, there is also a serpme (spread) option.

Visitors often single out the pişi, a yeasted dough fried until puffed and eaten hot. For something beyond the classics, the menu also has a Spanish omelette and poached eggs with avocado.

Visiting tips

Müjgan does not take reservations, and tables fill in turn. If you go late on a weekend morning, be ready to wait, or come early: the café opens early in the morning.

It is about a ten-minute walk from Kadıköy ferry pier. After breakfast, wander the neighbourhood to see Yeldeğirmeni's murals.
